Avoid overinterpreting a career test
Treat a result as a conversation starter, then check it against context, official information, and small experiences.

Define what the test can and cannot say
A career test summarizes responses and self-perception at a point in time; it does not establish occupational fit, hiring outcomes, or ability. Read the test’s purpose, items, and conditions, and do not translate a type code directly into a list of jobs.
Compare the result with lived evidence
Choose one result that feels familiar and one that feels surprising, then compare each with two recent scenes. Record what you did, the setting, and what felt easy or difficult, and write an alternative explanation. If differences are small, avoid declaring a ranking and observe the same question in another context.
Use a post-test action checklist
□ Did I read the test’s limits? □ Did I check actual tasks in official career sources? □ Did I avoid concluding from one experience? □ Did I plan an interview, observation, or small task? If result and experience differ, do not simply label the test wrong; record the conditions and revise the next question.
