Turn work preferences into your next career-exploration step
Treat a preference as a prompt for a small, testable next step—not a final answer about a job.

Frame a preference as a hypothesis
The four WPTI-X dimensions are a starting point for considering the ways you may currently prefer to work. Leaning toward one side does not mean that only one occupation fits, or that you cannot work well in another setting.
Gather evidence from experience
Choose one preference that stands out and connect it to a recent experience. Notes about focused solo work, trying a new approach, or contributing to another person can provide concrete evidence that is easier to examine than an assumption.
Plan one small, low-stakes action
Then turn that evidence into a next action. Read a description of work that interests you, plan a small project or conversation, and note where your expectation differed from the experience. Revisiting those observations can make the next choice clearer.
