Agree on purpose and boundaries
Job shadowing is learning through an approved observation period, not performing work without supervision. Confirm purpose, date, spaces, confidentiality, and safety rules with the organization and host. Do not handle patient or customer information, secure areas, or photographs without explicit permission.
Prepare an observation sheet
Create rows for time, task, tools, interaction, waiting or repetition, concentration demands, and unfamiliar terms. Follow supervision and safety instruction if participation is allowed, and avoid treating one pace or workplace atmosphere as universal.
Compare expectation with observation
□ Did I confirm permission and needed access support? □ Did I choose three questions? □ Did I avoid recording personal information? □ Did I thank the host and note learning? Compare the notes with an official duties description in three columns—match, difference, and follow-up—and choose the next exploration action.
