Compare training paths in a practical way
Compare degrees, certificates, apprenticeships, and self-study by target tasks and verification, not duration alone.

Start with the work that must be learned
List the tasks a target role involves and the evidence a prospective employer could actually review. O*NET and CareerOneStop training information are starting points; preparation and regulation can vary by country and jurisdiction. Do not assume that one path fits everyone.
Use the same questions for every path
For each option, record entry conditions, learning content, practice opportunities, completion evidence, time, cost, and available support. Compare a provider’s description with relevant accreditation or local rules, and distinguish completing a course from meeting a requirement for a particular occupation.
Run one check before committing
□ Does the path practice the target task? □ Can I show what I make or do? □ Can I manage its schedule and support needs? □ Is there a way to pause or switch? Use a public lesson or information session to answer the highest-risk question, record the decision, and set a review date.
